Here are seven of the best family-friendly Easter days out to enjoy this spring:

🚂 1. Hop on the Easter Bunny Train at The Watercress Line (Alresford, Hampshire)

If your little one is obsessed with trains, this is an Easter dream come true. The Watercress Line’s heritage steam trains are taking on a magical twist with the help of the Easter Bunny!

Families can hop aboard for a scenic ride filled with sing-alongs, giggles, and bunny-themed fun. Kids are encouraged to bring their favourite cuddly toy along for a special photo with the Easter Bunny—and yes, there’s even a cute keepsake to take home.

Why it’s perfect for little ones: It’s gentle, joyful, and full of wholesome entertainment.

🐇 2. Chase Mischievous Rabbits at Hever Castle (Edenbridge, Kent)

Step into a real-life fairytale with a visit to the stunning Hever Castle. This Easter, kids can help head gardener Mr. Miller track down cheeky bunnies that are causing chaos in the beautifully manicured gardens.

It’s an enchanting setting for an egg hunt, with wide-open spaces for running around and plenty of charming corners to explore. There’s also a fantastic adventure playground if your little ones still have energy to burn afterwards.

Pro tip: Pack a picnic or grab lunch at the on-site café—plenty of kid-friendly options!

🥚 3. Follow the Trail at Leybourne Lakes Country Park (Snodland, Kent)

For a budget-friendly, outdoor adventure, Leybourne Lakes has just the thing. Their themed Easter trail leads families around the lakes and woodland paths, with puzzles to solve and surprises to discover along the way.

At the end of the trail? A well-deserved Easter egg for each child, of course! It’s a low-key, fun way to enjoy some fresh air and screen-free time as a family.

Dress code: Comfy shoes, waterproofs if it’s drizzly, and why not go all-in with bunny ears?

⚔️ 4. Horrible Histories Easter Escapades at Leeds Castle (Maidstone, Kent)

History meets hilarity in this action-packed Easter adventure at Leeds Castle, running from April 5–21, 2025. Young knights-in-training can get hands-on with fun activities like crest-making, sword practice, and shield crafting—all themed around Horrible Histories.

Complete the quest, and they’ll earn a gold coin, a chocolate treat, and an honorary knighthood. Plus, there are crafts, playgrounds, face painting, and lots of space to roam.

Perfect for: Primary-aged children who love storytelling, dressing up, and a bit of adventure.

🎢 5. Bunny Fun at Paultons Park (Romsey, Hampshire)

Paultons Park is already a family favourite, especially thanks to Peppa Pig World, but at Easter, it’s extra magical. Giant eggs, colourful decorations, and meet-and-greets with Bobtail Bunny and Betty Bunny create a festive welcome as soon as you arrive.

With over 70 rides and attractions, including plenty for toddlers and preschoolers, this is a full-day out the whole family can enjoy. Bonus points for the gorgeous gardens and spring blooms!

Top tip: Get there early to make the most of your day—and don’t forget a change of clothes if your child loves splashy rides.

🧚 6. Enter a Fantasy World at Fort Amherst (Chatham, Kent)

If your little ones are fans of fairies, pirates, or Star Wars, this is a day out they’ll never forget. On Easter Sunday and Monday only, Fort Amherst transforms its historic tunnels into a whimsical, otherworldly wonderland.

Expect to meet a whole cast of fantasy and sci-fi characters—from dragons and goblins to Jedi and Time Lords! It’s a one-of-a-kind experience with lots of photo ops and imagination-firing moments.

Who it’s best for: Kids aged 4–10 who love make-believe and dressing up.

🐑 7. Easter Egg Hunt & Lamb Cuddles at Ockley Barn Farm (Hawkhurst, Kent)

For something a little more relaxed, head to Ockley Barn Farm for a traditional Easter egg hunt and a chance to meet adorable animals. Kids can roam the fields collecting eggs (to swap for chocolate), all while spotting newborn lambs, goats, pigs, and ponies.

It’s a lovely way to introduce little ones to farm life—and gives them a chance to burn off energy in a natural, open-air setting.

What to bring: Wellies, wipes, and maybe a spare pair of clothes—mud and toddlers go hand in hand!

🧺 Final Tips for a Cracking Day Out
